I love the world of words! I love the way writers capture complex thoughts in a single sentence. I love the way that through their eyes and imagination, I can visit far-away places without getting on a single road. I love too that words can simplify life and help us better navigate the world in which we live. Words that help us find hope and strength beyond compare, just when we need them most are precious and life altering. I love words because they are powerful. With words I can become, understand, and feel all of life from the pen of a wordsmith. When you hear the adage that the pen is mightier than the sword, believe it.

     I hate that the art of words is fading, not because words themselves fade but because systems that delivers words fail. Words should be immortal. It is how we communicate and, we are the only primates who do so with words. We should feel compelled to preserve the art of words in every language, in every culture, and in every form.

     We'd love to tell you that we slaved away in a garage for years without much food or drink to come up with the idea of preserving words. We did not. We'd like to tell you that innovation and disruption was our big play. It was partly, but not the key driver. We’d also like to tell you that we wanted to be rich. We don’t mind being rich, but we’d probably chance it on a game of toss. We are entrepreneurs.

     What we’d love to tell you is the simple truth—which is that we care a great deal about our community of writers. We care that the storytellers, who reflect the world to us and keep the history of our time through the arts, are not marginalized or discouraged. What we care deeply about is the transformative power of words and the power of passion.
